At Duncraig Chiropractic, we were the first practice in Western Australia to offer BioFlex Laser Therapy for patients. Also known as Cold Laser or Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), BioFlex is an exciting new therapy we use when treating Perth patients which offers new hope for a wide range of conditions. Dr Joshua Tymms discovered the therapy through conversation with a doctor while at a conference in Indonesia in 2015. Since this time Dr Josh has been offering the Cold Laser Therapy from his practice here in Duncraig.
The treatment is very popular for a range of injuries as a result of it's excellent results and painless application. That's right, it's PAINLESS! Bring a good book and make yourself comfortable and the laser does the rest while you simply relax. Dr Josh can assesses your injury, give you recommendations specific to your case and give you your first treatment on day one. On occasions there may be the need for more investigation with appropriate imaging but the laser therapy can be started immediately while this process is carried out.
How does the laser work?
One of the most common questions asked about the therapy. BioFlex Laser Therapy utilizes super-luminous and laser diodes to irradiate diseased or traumatized tissue with photons. These particles of energy are selectively absorbed by the cell membrane and intra-cellular molecules, resulting in the initiation of a cascade of physiological reactions, leading to the restoration of normal cell structure and function. The process is very effective and often results in the elimination of pain while enhancing the body's immune response, and also facilitates natural healing.
This means that not only can Laser therapy help with pain relief but it also speeds up the normal healing process so you get better faster! To the right is picture of Dr Josh finishing a laser treatment for a biceps injury with the infrared laser probe .
What does it treat?
BioFlex Laser therapy is highly effective in the treatment of musculo-skeletal conditions suck as arthritis, sports injuries, rotator cuff injuries, bursitis, tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, tendonitis, carpal tunnel, stress fractures, wound healing and a wide range of dermatological conditions. No adverse effects have been experienced by our patients, which shows that the therapy is remarkably safe. The therapy is also safe for people with implants and pacemakers. Another benefit of BioFlex Laser Therapy is how the equipment may also be applied directly over open wounds, and we can also assure our patients that the application of laser therapy is pain free.
